new demands of scientific libraries and the user-oriented special division

Common workshop of the VDB-Kommission für Fachreferatsarbeit  and the AG Informationskompetenz NRW

Düsseldorf, 16 March 2005

Presentations (in German):

·

Daniela Schwill – Renate Vogt, The study reform as a chance for the university libraries (completely translated in English).
The study reform gives a chance to introduce teaching of information literacy as an integrating part of the university studies and to follow the Anglo-American and Scandinavian models. The framework issues of the Bachelor reform, i.e.  modularisation and credit system (ECTS), are presented.  Different strategies are explained through concrete examples, with focus on methods by which the university libraries can integrate their  IL offers into the Bachelor structure and put it into practice.

· Anneke Thiel, Information literacy in the context: tradition, theory, terminology.
· Matthias Reifegerste, Integration of information literacy teaching into academic courses in Humanities (Philology, Anglistics, Germanistics and Romanistics) at the University of Freiburg.  (selected passages translated in English)

· Robert Zept, Specialised information services at the State and Land libraries.
· Oliver Kohl-Frey, Modularisation and e-learning: the information literacy project in Baden-Württemberg.
How ss from September 2003,
within the Information Literacy (IK) Project of the University of Konstanz,0 a modular training system for information literacy has been developed.

· Annemarie Nilges - Marianne Reessing-Fidorra, Information literacy as community task for university libraries in NRW (Nordrhein-Westfalen): a toll.
In 2002 a Working group on information literacy, AG Informationskompetenz, was established by the work community of the university libraries in vbnw together with the polytechnic  libraries. The goal of this cooperation has been to improve effectiveness and quality, by preparing together methods and materials, directing towards standards, and through specialisation, professional training and experiences exchange
