Courses in information retrieval

Introduction to the Technical University Library of Denmark for all new library users (duration: 1 ½ hours)
Target groups
All new users of the University Library: university students, faculty, staff from DTU and external users
Level: basic
The purpose of the course is to give you an overview of the University Library resources and how to use them.
This course can also be used by groups, such as project groups or research groups.
Main issues:
·  The Library webpage
·  Searching the Library catalogue (ALIS)
·  Orders in ALIS
·  Relevant databases. 

Introduction to the University Library for PhD students and new research staff members (duration: 4 hours)
Target groups: PhD students; new university (DTU) research staff members
Level: basic and advanced
Language: English
It consists of an overview of the sources the participants have access to via the library and how to use these resources, and provides them with a systematic and scientific approach to information search and retrieval so that they can improve their researches.
Main issues:
·  Information and literature searching
·  Reference management and publishing
·  Subject relevant databases and handbooks.

Information Retrieval Roadshow for researchers
Target group: researchers (DTU departments, sections and research groups)
Level: advanced
These courses in scientific information retrieval are customised to match researchers’ needs and goals. They can be general introductions or concentrate on a specific database or subject.
