Research
Group on School Librarianship (GRiSB)
The Group was established in April 1993 at the Department
of Education Sciences, Faculty of Education Sciences, University of Padua
with the support of the Veneto
section of the Italian Library Association (AIB).
The Group is coordinated by D. Lombello, Lecturer of Children’s
Literature, Bibliography and Librarianship at the University of Padua. Teachers
of Education Sciences at Padua University, the coordinator of the Italian
Library Association Standing Committee for School Libraries and Resource
Centres, educators from early childhood schools and
kindergartens belong to it.
Monthly meetings (3 hours each) are held at the Department of Educational
Studies, in order to share experiences and information, discuss and learn from
each other, and propose new initiatives and solutions.
Theme of the AY 1999-2000: Research methodology in the school library.
Theme of the AY 2000-2001: Research methodology in the multimedia school
library: Italian proposals; American and Canadian proposals.
Calendar
and minutes of the meetings are available in Italian only.
Teachers
of any school sector, public librarians and all those concerned with school
libraries are free to participate in the group activities.

- Education of the teacher documentalist for a multi-media school library
– AY 2001/2002, 2002/2003.

- Master for the Education of the school teacher documentalist, with the
contribution of MIUR, AY 2001/2002;
- Documentalist librarian in school and educational services, AY
2002/2003.
In the last years these courses have been evolved in the advanced
training courses taught at Padua University.
There is also the information sheet of the Group, concerning
libraries, school librarians and reading.
It is an online magazine in Italian, "I
capelli di Sansone" (The hair of Samson), since October 2000.
The last number was published in June 2004.
