Meetings on school libraries

The meetings, organised by the Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia Sections of the Italian Library Association (AIB), are addressed to school librarians, teachers concerned with school libraries or interested in a closer cooperation between the school and the library, and all the librarians operating on the territory.
The main aim of the initiatives is to stress the interest and the topicality of the school library, its fundamental role within the school, its inalienable function between the territorial library system.

  • Rovigo, 15 maggio 2006
The School Library and the international trends.
Donatella Lombello (AIB Standing Committee for School Libraries and Resource Centres and Department of Education Sciences, Padua University)
The IFLA Guidelines for School Libraries and other international documents relevant to this topic are presented.

  • Rovigo, 22 maggio 2006
The School Library as didactic classroom: teaching information seeking and use processes.
Marina Bolletti (AIB - Veneto Section and Library of “A. Cornaro” High School, Padua)
The focus – also through practical examples – is on the primary function of the school library: to provide future citizens with information seeking and use skills.
