·    How to search for and find information and literature on the Internet (course n. 20 - 4 hours)
Target group: university employees
Level: basic and advanced
Within the seminar the participants learn to use the web browsers and the main search tools. Other main contents:

   an overview about the information offers of the University Library;

   Databases

   Vortals on the Internet

   Search engines
-
   Deep web
-
   Types of databases and search tools for databases
-
   Search strategies
The course gives the participants the possibility of practising their skills in searching databases and catalogues.

·    User guidance in searching information (course n. 22 – 1 day)
Target group: university employees with qualified tasks at the library information desk
Level: advanced
Main contents:
-
   The role for the librarians working at the information desk and finding and mediating information (the focus is on their skills to solve information problems and to transfer more complex search competencies)
-
   Psychology and behaviour of information searchers
-
   Information needs and support possibilities
-
   Strategies for analysing information problems with a customer-oriented approach

   Guidance and counselling as learning assistance and the new role of information, for ex. in the Bachelor degree.
Methods: short lectures, plenum discussions, conversation simulations, work documentation

·    Methods for effectively providing information and media literacy training (course n. 23 – 2 days)
Target group: university employees with training activities in the areas of library, new information media and communication technology
Level: basic and advanced
Within this course basic didactic-methodical knowledge and skills are taught to specialist professionals who will provide training in these new competences. Examples in systematically searching information systems.

   Elements of learning psychology

   Factors to consider in planning and designing training

   Learning objectives and didactic reduction

   Alternative training methods

   Training evaluation
Methods: short lectures, group work, training simulations

·    Professional writing (course n. 27 - 4 and half hours)
Target group: university employees
Level: basic
Aim: in a block seminar (4 hours) the necessary hand tool for professional writing will be provided
Main contents:
-   Text forms: informative, demonstrative, reader-friendly

   Practice with representative text types

   Structure of a discussion memo

   How to prepare minutes/proceedings of a meeting, business letters, e-mails

   Avoidance of errors
