The goal
of this research – one of the
REGIS
(Research Group on Information Seeking) projects – is to find out for which
purposes citizens use Internet in their everyday life.
The focus of this research is on the non-work information seeking and on
those reasons why people use Internet and which are the reasons for non-use.
One of the aims is to explain in what kind of situations people prefer Internet
and how does their lifestyle and social background effect to information seeking
process. Which are the differences in using the Internet for non-work
information seeking between academically educated people and non-academic
people?
Most of the data is qualitative
and 50 people are interviewed for this study; 25 of them are non-academical from
the background and 25 of them have at least bachelor's degree.
