Courses 2006 (Spring and Autumn)


Introduction to the University Library and its online catalogue
Target group: library users - minimum 5 participants
Level: basic
Contents: a free introductory tour of the library in order to get acquainted with the library's layout, facilities and services.
An introduction to the library's homepages and online catalogue ODIN is also included.


Personal IR instruction
Target group:
university (SDU - University of Southern Denmark)) students (individuals or group) who are preparing to write a research paper
Level: basic
The  IR instruction is given by a librarian or a subject specialist within the specific subject area.


Introduction to the library's services
Target group:
university (SDU) researchers and lecturers
Level: basic 
Contents: Information about the library's resources and how to use them at best.


Introduction to the library's databases
Target group: all interested groups - minimum 5 persons
Level: basic and advanced
Contents: How to retrieve the newest  books and articles within a subject area.
Basic search techniques and methods  and the more advanced search options.
A custom-designed introduction to databases within a particular subject area is also bookable. 


Other courses for dissertation students, lecturers and researchers
Target groups: university (SDU) students preparing a thesis, lecturers and researchers
Level: advanced
The library offers courses in advanced literature and information retrieval for students preparing a thesis, lecturers and researchers
The aim of these courses is to give the participants skills in the selection, assessment and use of electronic information resources. 
Group instruction is available followed by the option of personal guidance.
